"Mary Jane's Chair "

Mary Jane's living room chair. This was lit by a flash suspended outside the window. It was also a time exposure, with the simulated smoke rising from the ashtray. There's a trick to getting that particular effect.

It wasn't smoke, it was a burning piece of newspaper held in my gloved hands and moved from the top of the image into the ash tray. The trail it leaves during a time exposure looks precisely like smoke.
